Bamboovement was founded by Joshua and Ainu van den Hurk and was born from a shared mission: making plastic-free the new normal . Inspired by a childhood where sustainability was self-evident, they decided to take action in a world where this is not always the case.

With innovative, plastic-free care products , they challenge the established order and prove that sustainability can go hand in hand with quality, design and ease of use. From the very first 99% plastic-free razors to bamboo brush heads and reusable alternatives - Bamboovement develops products that are not only better for the planet, but also for the user.

The combination of sustainability and ethics

Bamboovement's products are mainly made from FSC-certified bamboo and are produced in factories in China that meet the standards of the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI). This guarantees fair and safe working conditions. In addition, some products, such as the cork toiletry bags and reusable cotton pads, come from a Fairtrade factory in India.

The Bamboovement team visited a large part of their production partners. During these visits they were able to see with their own eyes that the products are not only sustainable but also made with respect for people and the environment.

Focus on climate impact

In addition to sustainable production, Bamboovement is also focused on climate gain. They calculate the total CO2 emissions of their products, so that they can demonstrate the reduced footprint compared to plastic alternatives and they know in which areas the most gain can still be achieved. By being honest for people and nature, Bamboovement can, together with its partners, always take a step further in sustainability.

For example, they offset their CO2 emissions via ClimatePartner, plant trees to combat deforestation and donate old but unused toothbrushes to people who need them most.
